Upside by Bradley R.E. Wright

10 years ago, during the seige on the Twin Towers, everybody can remember where they were on September 11th.  It was a horrific day that left many of us glued to the television set while we watched in agony as the drama unfolded.  So many lives were changed that day and many are still grieving the loss of loved ones.   For those who were at ground zero, being in the throes of commotion have left scars that will never fade.  In the decade that followed we have tried to make sense of what a horrible place our world has become.

In his book Upside, Dr. Bradley Wright examines the terrible state of the world and asks the question, "What if the doomsayers have it all wrong?"  What if the world is not as bad as we think it is...and in fact, the world is getting better?   Is it?

The first misconception Dr. Wright addresses is the myth that things are going downhill.  He insists that things may look bad due to an increase in pessimism about our nation and he directly addresses the "optimism gap" to try to encourage people to realize that things are not as bad as they may seem.  Dr. Wright maintains that they world is getting steadily better and his book will show you proof.  Full of overwhelming statistics this book is not for the faint of heart or someone looking for a light read...

Disclaimer:  I received this book for free from Bethany House in exchange for an honest review.
