My Garden...

My Garden plot is expanding...but I'm stuck. I need a tiller. I have been hacking at this crazy square for days and days and the pieces aren't getting smaller.
Thank goodness they announced last week in Relief Society that the Elders Quorum will be tilling gardens for a service project next month!

Kayley still had fun hoeing the garden with her little "kayley-sized" hoe, but, it is WAY too frustrating. So we will wait for the Elders Quorum to come and till it, then we will move on!

While Kayley and I have been working in the garden, Maggie has been supervising!

Maggie @ 3 months!

Hard to believe that Maggie hit her 3 month mark! (Ok, so I'm a little late! She turned 3 months...like..3 weeks ago. LOL!). Sorry. Anyway. She is an awesome baby. Always happy and smiling...

The hair is just amazing.
I get people remarking on her hair everywhere we go.
Of course she is getting the customary 'bald spot' on the back
as well as the awesome 'flat spot' from going 'back to sleep'.
I should take a pic of the back of her head!

Kayley and Maggie get along great.
Kayley gets concerned if she thinks we are going to
go some where and leave Maggie at home...
"Maggie will miss me!"...she says.

Maggie has started cooing and making lots of fun noises.
She also giggled for the first time on Saturday. At Kayley, no less! :)

She is good at manuvering things to her mouth...

Kayley always sucked on the braids.
Maggie seems to favor the feet.

She is just an all-around awesome lil girl.
She just hangs out!
She sleeps 12 hours a night!

Bumbo

I was pretty excited to get this Bumbo for Maggie.

I really wished I had one when Kayley was a baby!
It is pretty awesome! Maggie seems to like it too!!

When good girls go bad.... or when water attacks!

Kayley got ahold of the water hose a couple of days ago when
we were trying to water our flowers...
Thankfully, Maggie and I were safely ensconced in the house.

**by the way - I know some of you may be wondering what is going on with that freaky outfit. I keep a drawer full of 'play clothes' that Kayley can pick from when going outside... she did dress herself and NO, I don't let her go to town like that. :)

Ah! No more searching for binkies in the dark!

Yup, Kayley was a thumbsucker too and I have not regretted it one bit.

Restless Life Syndrome

I just read this posting over on this blog:

She writes about how she has hit a time in her life that she describes as "restless life syndrome." I bet if you read about it, you will realize that you have been there at some point in time in your life too. I have been there...I am still there. I have been there for a few years. One would think that moving and a new baby would provide the change that I have been seeking, but for some reason it hasn't. Not that I am not happy. Nope, I am definitely happy...but yet still wonder what I need to do differently. Take a class? Start a new hobby? Something!
My dad has always talked about how my ancestor's have "itchy feet".
I know I have it too.
Always looking for a change.
Always seeking something new and interesting.

Anyway- I enjoyed the posting on this blog, thought I'd share!

Little Acorn

We went to the Little Acorns Preschool Program at the Springfield Nature Center on Friday where we learned about Cottontail bunnies!

We puttered around the museum for a while before we went in,
where they had a great touch-table!

A helicopter simulator so you could help put out forest fires!

They also had fun little doors tucked in all the trees.
Kayley had a fun time trying to find all the little doors.

In the preschool program they made bunny puppets and learned all about Cottontails!

It was really fun - totally FREE - and I'd recommend this program to anyone with preschoolers!!! I wish we had had enough time afterward to go for a little hike in the woods. Maybe next time! We go back later this week to try out a "Story Time with Ms. Ladybug!"

Little-Me

Kayley is so funny. I had to share some of the funny things that she has said over the last couple of weeks. Oh, the funniest (and maybe the worst) part is - she sounds just like ME!

We were at Daddy's office the other day...and when we got there I saw this mysterious purse and other 'girly' things in his office. I asked him, "what is going on?" And he mentioned "oh, I have a medical student following me this month." "Oh," I said, "you never mentioned that to me" Well, Kayley said to me, "Why did Daddy not tell you??" And I told her to ask him for me, since I wasn't really sure... So, she said, "Daddy! Why did you not talk to Mommy??" And his response was, "I don't know, I guess I just didn't think about it..." To which Kayley responded very smartly, "Now, THERE is the point!" hahaha!
(Yep, totally me)

Another day we had hit the Taco Bell drive thru after preschool. I was going to drop Kayley off at Daddy's office so I could run to the post office and stand in line kid-free and she could eat while I was gone. As I was pulling away Kayley spied the bag and said, "Mom!! You said we were getting a Happy Meal!" And I looked down, and sure enough, it was not the Taco Bell 'Kids Meal', it was a regular bag and they FORGOT the TOY! Sooo...I pulled over, ran inside, rectified the situation and got back in the car. As I handed the bag back to Kayley she said, "Is there a toy in here now??" I assured her that there was and I just remarked, "I don't know why they messed it all up in the first place!?" And Kayley said, "Ya! Ruuuude! Ruuude People! Rude!"
(Oh yeah, that's totally me)


And one of my personal favorites right now:
Kayley- "So, Mom...did you make Maggie a big bottle or a little one?"
Me- "I made her a big one..."
K- "How many ounces?"
Me- "5"
K- "Well Good"
(She says that about a lot of stuff!
I'm glad she approves-lol!)

Bird Feeders

Always one for a crazy project, I decided that it might be fun to
make our own, natural, bird feeders!

We started with a peanut butter and cornmeal mixture and smooshed it all over pinecones.

(It was a 'little' messy)

Then we rolled them in birdseed!

Voila! Homemade birdfeeders!

The Salad Master Guy

So, I recently won a drawing at the Women's Show at the E-plex at the fairgrounds. I won a complete set of utensils from Salad Master! In order to get my 'prize' though, I had to invite THE Salad Master, Chef Ray, over to our house to cook us a delicious dinner.
I was skepical, then quickly found Ray to be charming and fun...the food was AWESOME...!

He let Kayley help while he demonstrated Salad Master products...
So easy to use - a caveman (or toddler) can do it!

We had chicken made with NO oil, potatoes, salad, 4 kinds of veggies and pineapple upside down cake. The pots and pans are made of titanium and have no chemical reactions in your body like teflon or other metals. We are totally hooked on the Salad Master brand!

Ahhh! And in the end I got a new set of pots n' pans, a salad master spinner and a babyfood grinder. Plus my utensils!!! I have made several meals in my new dishes, which turned out LUSCIOUS!

Open Windows...

The weather has been so beautiful that it has been really pleasant to open all of our windows and let the sweet spring breeze blow through the house. It smells so good.
The cats seem to enjoy it too. :)

My "Garden"

Yes, it's true. I have started a garden. Here is my big mess I has so far created. The truth is, I have never gardened in my life...I have no idea what I'm doing, but...I did thumb through a book on it... So, wish me luck!
If nothing else works out, we can always put in a
swimming pool in the hole that I dug.
hahaha!

Kayley's diaper changing skills

Sure, I mean, she's only 3, but she's been begging me to let her change Maggie's diaper, so I figured, "why not?" So I grabbed my camera! Enjoy the videos...

So, I stopped in the middle and helped with the wipey...then continued...
