At the end of March my Dad retired from Civil Service with the Navy. We took the opportunity to enjoy an extended field trip to Virginia where we were excited to tour the Pentagon, meet the Under Secretary of the Navy, and enjoy a very official military retirement ceremony... None of which I was allowed to take pictures of!~
Bummer I know! But, here is one picture I am sure you will enjoy:
This is a picture of us trapped in the elevator at Pentagon Mall. Yes, trapped. For 30 minutes. We finally got out after a call to 911 brought several fire trucks and about 8 firemen!
But, hey! We enjoyed a lot of other things about our trip!
Here are the pictures to prove it!
The view from the Control Tower at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy, National Air and Space Museum. A very fun and interesting visit. It is a part of the Smithsonian!
A hidden Mickey!
We also paid a visit to a great restaurant right on the Potomac! We ate fresh seafood that was awfully good and went out side in the freezing wind to snap a picture!
No visit to VA would be complete without a stop at Mount Vernon!
And of course, a selfie is always required.
We visited the National Mall...
And saw the Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington...
We also managed to survive riding the Metro...
That is quite an adventure too!
We really really had a great visit to Virginia!
