Worthy Kids/Ideals {TOS Review}

I have a house full of voracious readers and we are always excited to get kid-friendly, christian, chapter books to review.  Since we are always looking for another great series to read we were thrilled with the chance to review The Secret of the Hidden Scrolls, The Beginning (Book #1) and Race to the Ark (Book #2) by M. J. Thomas and published by Worthy Kids/Ideals!  We received both books as a nice paperback copy and both my girls snatched them up right away and devoured them!

The Secret of the Hidden Scrolls
About the The Secret of the Hidden Scrolls Books:
In The Secret of the Hidden Scrolls Book One: The Beginning sibling duo Peter and Mary, with their dog Hank, are unhappy with the prospect of spending a whole month with their Great-Uncle Solomon while their parents are away in Africa.  Fearing complete boredom, and with the Uncle Solomon's soup tasting like mop-water, the siblings expect the month to be horrible.  But, boy are they wrong!  To their surprise, that night, Uncle Solomon begins to tell them the story of the Legend of the Hidden Scrolls.  He shares that only the "chosen one" who followed the "lions roar" could open the scrolls and unfortunately, Uncle Solomon was not the chosen one...  Imagine their shock when that night while sleeping both Peter and Mary hear what sounds like a lions roar right outside their bedroom doors!  Following the mysterious noise the kids stumble upon the scrolls in the dark library and discover that the seal on one of the scrolls has cracked!  Suddenly, the walls begin to shake, books fall off their shelves, and the world as they know it melts away taking the kids on adventure back to the very beginning of time.  With the help of the angel Michael, the kids must solve the mystery contained within the scrolls or risk being trapped in the past...forever!
In The Secret of the Hidden Scrolls Book Two: Race to the Ark, Peter and Mary are ready for their next adventure with the scrolls.  After finding Uncle Solomon's archaeological journal the kids are excited to hear the lions roar once more!  Packing the journal, a compass, a tent and a small hatchet they are off!  This time the scroll takes them back to the days of Noah.  They are instantly in trouble in the town for speaking of God when it is clear that everyone follows "The Dark One."  After a frightening chase with a wolf and a creepy overnight campout the children wake up the next morning in the shadow of the Ark.  It is a race against time to help Noah get every last animal loaded on the Ark, avoid The Dark One, and solve the secret of the scroll or, of course, they will end up trapped in the past forever!

What We Thought of The Secret of the Hidden Scrolls:
My kids loved them!  They are recommended for kids ages 6-9 with a reading level of Grades 1-3 but they were enjoyable even for my 6th grader.  The characters are relatable and fun!  We look forward to reuniting with Peter and Mary in future Secret of the Hidden Scrolls adventures from WorthyKids/Ideals!

(My kids fighting over who got to read Book 1 first!)
