Heirloom Audio Productions - Captain Bayley's Heir {TOS Review}

Not too long ago we listened to our very first Heirloom Audio Production radio drama.  And, for the first time ever, we sat in the driveway listening to just "one more chapter."  We were so impressed that I knew that we would jump at the chance to review another radio drama, but I never guessed the opportunity was right around the corner!  We were so excited to receive another amazing Heirloom Audio Production based on another G.A. Henty novel called Captain Bayley's Heir.  Once again we were blown away by the talents of an all-star cast and sitting on the edge of our seat as we listened to the drama unfold!

About Captain Bayley's Heir:

As the story unfolds we meet Harry, a young cripple whose little pup, Flossie has just fallen through thin ice at the park.  A young student, Frank and his cousins Fred and Alice witness this tragedy.  With no thought for his own life, Frank plunges into the water to save Flossie.  He is a hero and is now so dear to Harry's family and an unlikely friendship is forged.  Later Frank and his friends get into a scuffle when they get involved in fist-a-cuffs outside of school bounds.  When Frank breaks another students nose the student vows to make him pay!  He blackmails Frank into paying 10 pounds or the broken-nosed student will rat him out to the headmaster!  How can Frank come up with the money that he needs?  One of his school mates tells him to pray, which he fervently does, and imagine Frank's shock when a mysterious envelope arrives at his dorm room with a 10 pound note enclosed.  Who did it come from?  No one seems to know, but Frank uses it to buy the silence of the broken-nosed student.  Unfortunately when taken to the bank the note is determined to be stolen and all fingers point in the direction of Frank, who is innocent.  Knowing his stern guardian and uncle, Captain Bayley, will disown him for disgracing the family and facing expulsion from the prestigious school Frank decides to go to America to seek his fortune and hopefully clear his name.  He is a lucky boy in that he falls into the company of several well-meaning and God-fearing ship captains and cowboys.  America is quite the place for an adventure!

Meanwhile, Frank's uncle, Captain Bayley, deals with regrets and tragedies of his own.  Past mistakes had pushed his only daughter away and he has spent years searching for her...only to find her too late, buried in a cemetery.

Will Captain Bayley repeat the same mistakes with Frank?  Will Frank be able to clear his name?  Will Captain Bayley forgive him?  I cannot tell you more for if I do I will give the story away!  You will just have to listen and find out!

What We Thought of Captain Bayley's Heir:

Another fantastic radio drama by Heirloom Audio!  Wow!  There is nothing quite like taking the long, scenic route home so you can listen just a little longer.  The all-star cast is always a treat!  We laughed over the "cowboy" slang and wondered weather terms like "fine as frog fur" and "hit your noggin" are really words that cowboys used?  It's hard to say, but I know that "frog fur" will be part of our vocabulary from now on.  Ha!

We can't wait to get our hands on a 3rd audio adventure from Heirloom Audio Productions!
