No More Quick Fixes - Love Food & Live Well by Chantel Hobbs

I enjoyed the book Love Food & Live Well by author Chantel Hobbs.  Chantel spent several years of her life as an obese, unhappy woman until she decided to allow God to help her overcome this aspect of her life and move on to find peace and happiness (and lose over 150 pounds!).  This book is a diet book that is not a typical diet book.  Written from a strong Christian perspective Chantel helps the reader find a way to change their mindset about dieting and removing the guilt that comes with loving food...all food!  She teaches, "living well while loving food is entirely possible."  Using the example of Lazarus from the Bible, Chantel describes the second chance we are offered when we allow God to help us in all aspects of our lives, including weight loss.  She maintains, "get real about food and the role it plays in your is time to claim your new identity." 

A focus on counting calories, carbohydrates, eating plenty of protein, several of her favorite recipes and myriad healthful "clean eating" tips with a section on cardio exercises and weight training tie this book together.  

I love reading biographies of women who have lost weight and kept it off and I'll admit that I was disappointed that Chantel did not include before and after pictures in her book.  She calls that time of her life a "troubling reminder of [her] past" which is understandable, but I find the photo's to be the most inspiring evidence of weight loss.

A read I would recommend if you are searching for other success stories to motivate you as you travel along on your own weight loss journey!
