St. Patrick's Day Unit Study - Day 5

St. Patricks Day Pinch & Traditional Symbols
Back in the "olden days" (1700s) in Boston Massachusetts, people thought if you wore green, it made you invisible to the Leprechauns, which was good because the leprechauns would pinch anyone they could see! So the pinching is to warn and remind you about the Leprechauns.
So, many years ago, playful children thought it was a lot of fun to go around pinching people who forgot to wear their green on St. Patricks Day!  Now it is a tradition to have a St. Patrick's Day pinch!

Do a St. Pat's Craft while listening to Irish music!
We made this cute little leprechaun out of a paper plate and construction paper!

We also read this book:

And then planted our own Shamrocks!  (I found this cute little kit at Barnes and Noble!)
