Wildlife World Zoo & Aquarium

Today we decided to go on a family adventure. We have been really busy since December and haven't had a chance to take a nice family day in a while...soooo, we loaded up the car and headed to Litchfield Park, AZ to take in a day at the Wildlife World Zoo & Aquarium!

We started out at the entrance by feeding the ducks!

Here are several "ducks in a row..." We thought that was funny...

Kayley rode their really cheap and lame carousel... but, on the up side, it went twice as fast as any carousel she's ever been on...

Here is Kayley and Daddy gazing at something in a tank... I don't know what that is.
Checking out the LION!

Can you believe this is ALL there was between us and a lion? There was only a small split log barrier and then this fence! It was crazy! The lion didn't appreciate us staring at him. He kept charging the fence and growling at us!

The lion finally laid down and took a nap...

This zoo also had this scary, rickety-looking, Gondola ride. Of course we rode it! It was actually the scariest ride I've ever been on... I held my breath at every junction...

Here is a self-portrait on the Gondola...

Another self portrait on the Gondola...we had trouble getting Kayley in the photo. We were scared we would drop the camera and the ride operator made it clear in the beginning, if you lose anything off the Gondola, you do NOT get it back... We actually saw some poor little girls shoe laying in with the Kangaroos.

Our feet! It was a LONG way down...

Good thing we are not afraid of heights! I was only a little worried when I pictured us crashing down to the ground after our gondola broke off of the cable...

Kangaroo...

Almost done... Kayley was ready to get off by now. She wanted to go ride the train.

Giraffe... You could buy food here and feed the giraffes all you wanted. It only cost 50 cents!

Monkey.

On the train... We tried to take a self-portrait, but we were having trouble getting Kayley in the picture... She really is on the train with us!

So this nice lady offered to take a picture for us... But somehow James' head ended up all bright? Thanks for the help lady.

Riding the Train.

We got stuck! For some reason the train could not make this low grade hill and we had to back up and try again several times? Did they load the train to heavy? We wondered if we were going to have to get out and push... Or walk back to the train station following the rails...

Our driver checking out the train. He can't figure out why we can't get up this hill...

He is pulling the train... There is another guy pushing on the other side. We did finally make it...

At the aquarium we had a chance to pet a horshoe crab...

Kayley staring down a croc! Crikey! She's a beaut!

Fish. Technically these are "Tang." (Yes, James remembered this...I'll explain more later)

Seahorses.

A Green Moray Eel... (Yup, he remembered this one too...stay tuned).

More fish... This crazy aquarium... it pretty much only had fish! hahaha.

Red Bellied Piranha's... (My husband is so smart - stay tuned)

More fish... seriously... Kayley is pooped by now...

We did get a chance to pet stingrays. Kayley was pretty excited that she touched one!

More fish...

Albino Alligator...

Yes, the moment you have been waiting for... The reason we know so much about the animals that we saw is because James seriously reads all of the signs. I am way to bored to do all that reading, but, not James! If there was a quiz at the end, he really would have me beat.

Here is what it is like going to the zoo with James.... ZZZZZ!
J/K, I love you honey.

  1. That's totally me whenever I go anywhere! I read ALL of the signs!
Looks like you had a great family day out together!
Makes me want to go to the Hoogle zoo here in SLC. I've never been before, but I hear it's pretty cool.
